Real Housewives of Atlanta: S8 E11 “Ms. Parks Goes to Washington”

Disclaimer: This episode was interesting…there was just a lot going on.  It was definitely a transition episode to set up the second half of the season’s story lines.

Phaedra and the boys are ready to go to DC for the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March.

Phaedra is meeting with folks to help her organization “Save our Sons”.  They call Kim because she will be going with them.  She also invited Sheree and Porsha.

While Phaedra is on the phone, Apollo calls…at least it wasn’t collect. He talks to Ayden about being good in school and mentions that Phaedra told him Ayden had gotten in trouble and he better be good in school.

I guess there goes Apollo’s rants about never talking to the kids. Apparently that was a bald face lie.

We then go to Todd and Kandi.  They are discussing what they want the child to look like and what the son can’t do versus what a girl can’t do.

They then transition to talking about the restaurant which I feel like will be an epic fail.  I feel like Kandi may have the wherewithal to get it done but not now and maybe not ever in terms of smart decisions.

Cynthia goes to see Kenya at her lumber yard of a house.  They discuss how the “reunion” went and she asks about her mom.

Cynthia is saying she’s happy to be there for her bestie and is so touched and hurt for Kenya regarding her interaction with her mother or lack thereof.

This DC trip is going to be interesting.  Kim is running late and so Phaedra leaves another car for her while they go to Congress to meet with some folks.

The congresswoman starts discussing the state of black boys in the US.  Kim gives the congresswoman the finger.  She says that the conversation is too adult for her boys.  Phaedra says she doesn’t have the luxury of sugar coating stuff for her boys.

While I agree, her oldest son is old enough that he may need an introduction to the topic from his parents before hearing that.  That’s fine…but I’m not sure she would have ever had that conversation if it hadn’t been for that conversation.

Also, as well, in addition to…what did she believe the conversation would be about during this March weekend and when Phaedra’s foundation is “Save Our Sons”.

Kim takes her sons our of the lunch too.  She said that younger boy is tired.  Girl then you should have come after his nap.  Actually, you should have brought someone to help you if your husband wasn’t available or do you REALLY not have any friends.

She also mentions she’s leaving early from the March the next day.  The real question is…WHY DID YOU EVEN COME TO WASHINGTON??

We then go to Kenya who is talking to her aunt.  I want Kenya to understand that her aunt’s first priority is her sister/Kenya’s mother.  She is not more here for you than she is for her sister.  That is obvious.  I feel like she only has a relationship with you in order to be a barrier between you and your mother.  She aint for you.  They discussed how Kenya’s mother would ignore her in the SAME ROOM and her maternal family thought that was ok.  Good Bye!

We finally get to the moment we have all been waiting for.  The return of the Nene!!

They have a nice conversation regarding their friendship and how things have come back together in the off time.  I’m happy because I know that Nene was a good friend to Cynthia.  She was really hurt when their friendship got rocky and we know Cynthia has been loony since they haven’t been friends.  Hell, she out here kicking folks in the belly.

Cynthia mentions that she’s cool with Kenya.  Nene is like

Then of course Cynthia being the fair weather ass chick she is…she denies Kenya in front of Nene.  Cynthia aint your friend either Kenya.  She likely your mother’s cousin because she treating you like that part of your family.

What did yall think of this episode?  Was Kim being extra or was she right?
