Attending The Naturalista Hair Show 2016

Last year, I won tickets to go to the Naturalista Hair show.  This year (Sept 18), I’ll be attending AGAIN as a blogger for the show.  Look at God! Y’all don’t know how I’ve been looking forward to getting back to this show since the one last year.  I’m excited about all it has to offer: Panels, Vendors (the deals are usually CRAZY), Hands on Classes, Workshops, Pampering, and more! Last year, I went with my friend Erika and we had a great time.  We stayed most of the day and bought so much great stuff and met some cool people. This year’s show will be just as epic and...

Back to Curly | Southern Curl Charm

Hey yall! The curls are back in town and they are loving life!  They must have thought that the press that i STRETCHED for months was punishment because the curls have not had to be put in timeout not once since I finally reverted back to curly. I did take advantage of the fact that my hair was extremely well detangled because it was straight and I’ve tried to keep that up and keep my hair stretched to help that process. Check out the video of me going from straight to curly.  Below will be a pic of my two latest twist and curls. This was a two strand twist...

Youtube Videos that Iyanla’d my Life

Hey yall!  I just wanted to come on here and make a confession that I’m is not perfect!  Wait…what?  I know I know.  I know that to like .478% of the world, I’m like EVERYTHING.  However, there are tons of things that I don’t know BUT Youtube fixed that. A lot of these things were having to do with beauty, hair, and how to be a girl.  I mean we know that me being “girly” is still a work in progress.  I had a friend ask me if I as ok because I started wearing dresses a few years ago. Luckily, I happened upon some streets up on the YoutubeS...

Should I get Locs? | Southern Curl Charm

While I’m still going through this period of hair boredom, I’ve been considering loc’ing my hair.  I’ve actually been going back and forth about locs for longer than I’ve been thinking about cutting my hair. I keep seeing these beautiful pictures of women with locs and I just swoon.  Two of my best friends have locs and they are gorgeous.  They both also big chopped before me and I followed behind them shortly.  I wonder if locs would be the next thing I follow behind them and do.   I’ve been going back and forth back and forth.  Every time that I think of a good reason, I think of...

Should I Big Chop…Again? | Southern Curl Charm

I’ve been natural for just over 5 years now and guess what…I’m in a hair rut!!  I’ve had long(er) hair all of my life and after a certain point in my permed hair life, I began coloring, cutting, and just trying new things with my hair. My natural hair journey has been rather…BORING!  The first half of the journey I can say that I was excited but totally clueless.  It’s only been in the latter half that I’ve actually learned more about how to care for MY hair and found products that my hair loves without being (quite) a product junkie. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve done my share...

2016 Go To Natural Hairstyles – Protective Styles

As we’re going into the new year and setting our goals for the year, a lot of naturals are setting hair goals for the year as well.  This wasn’t something I had necessarily put much thought into but there was one thing that I knew I wanted to focus on: PROTECTIVE STYLES. Since I got sick, my hair has suffered a bit.  It hasn’t suffered so much because of lack of styling but I believe the medication I’m on has affected it some.  I also manipulated my hair a lot more this past year because it needed coddling.  And we know that coddling spoils the child.   That led me...

Well worry no more.  I’m here to save the day.  You all know I’m a full on newbie to doing my own natural hair and makeup in general so if I can pull these off…so can you.  You can probably even do it blindfolded.  hey…LOOK…i know my skills and I’m honest about it…just think of how much more you’ll rock these looks. First…simple hair.  This style will last you for up to a week.  You can switch it up...
